Two-Dimensional Design

            According to the reading, postmodernism paved way for a different perspective on art. Instead of artwork being realistic, it now had a more creative combination of ideas. For example, on the the first page the girl is no longer only dancing, but she now has multiple arms, and is play the guitar, and drum. Postmodernism is also present in music as many songs now contain multiple genes and styles. I find it interesting that in the past it may be viewed as wrong or strange to cross genres, but now in today's society it is good to be different and creativity is praised.            The world's cultures, rituals, races, music and traditions are all intertwining creating new societal norms, and opening up the way for new possibilities. This allows for people to have a better understanding of others and there culture. It also paved the way for new innovations in the world of  media, advertising, art, and speech. ...

        In this podcast, they discuss how everyone views color differently. It could be that their eyes that are viewing the color differently, or the way that their mind interprets and determines what is being viewed. I thought it was very interesting how they talked about a grape. They asked the question whether or not the grape is the same color for everything on earth, every individual, cat, horse etc. I believe that everyone perceives color differently, and for this reason people have different personalities and interests. For example, the image that I see in my head for green may be completely different than what you see. However, we were both taught when we were younger to associate this image with the word green.          Most people take for granted the fact that they can see colors for about 10% of all males are actually color blind.             In the youtube video Whitescapes , Odili Donald Odita talks about how everyone sees and perceives color differently. This could be because of the absence or use of light on a certain object. Also, we all associate a visual color with an exact word, but what everyone is actually viewing may be completely different. For example, the color I see in my head for yellow, may be a completely different color than you see, but we both associate this image with the word yellow.             I looked at a tissue and my bed spread, and classified them both as being white while looking at them individually. After placing the tissue on my bed, I noticed that while they were both "white" they seemed to be different colors, or different shades. The tissue had a more yellow tint to it, as if it were more of a cream color. On the other hand, my bed spread looked more blueish gray. It was a darker shade of white than the tissue....

His body forms a triangle, and there are many leading lines and L-shape lines throughout the background. This painting is very simple, however there the artist did a lot of different layering with colorful paint. There are also black lines emphasizing certain parts of the man. This made me feel happy and excited, because of the use of bright colors and childlike design.        In the article Ways of Seeing  John Berger discusses the idea that seeing is the start of everything. We see the physical words themselves first before they are processed and given meaning within our minds. We also see others and objects around us as iterations with each other. We see our spots within society. However, with the invention of the camera and photography, the photographer is able to control where we look and what we see in order to evoke a certain feeling or emotion within us by manipulating our view on a situation.         Berger says "We only see what we look at. To look is an act of choice. As a result of this act, what we see is brought within our reach - though not necessarily within arm's reach" (8).        Dante discusses how one's imagination can carry them away from the present world. The passage says, "O imagination, you who have the power to impose yourself on out faculties and our wills, stealing us away from the outer world and carrying us off into an inner one, so that even if a thousand trumpets were to sound we would not hear them," (82). Our imaginations possess the ability to create an entire different world in which one controls every aspect. We can become so detached from reality as we venture deeper into our imaginary world.              Dante talks about the two different aspects to imagination.
